Distillation: Steam Distilled - First Distillation Oil from cupessus semperviren dried leaves and twigs. Essential oils can go through many cycles of distillation. With each additional cycle, the oil looses therapeutic value. Only first distillation essential oils can be considered useful for aroma therapy purposes.

Cypress Oil is extracted from the Italian cypress tree which is most often found in the Mediterranean region of the world and, although it is not native to North America, it can be found in the western United States. This tree grows fairly quickly and can reach heights of 60 feet and 6 feet wide. The Italian cypress tree is thought to be native to Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria. The shoots, cones, branches and leaves are typically harvested during the late winter month of February all the way through early springtime producing about 2.5% yield.

Uses: Combine cypress oil with rose oil for a blend that assists in grieving and outgrowing sadness, and use in a diffuser or as a massage blend. This oil is helpful to reduce fever and infection when blended with lavender. This essential oil is also known to tighten up blood vessels and can be helpful in treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids particularly.

Contraindications: Non-toxic, non-irritant. Appears to be fairly safe oil however this oil should be avoided in pregnancy, in people with hypertension, and in people with history of estrogen dependent cancer.
Undiluted essential oils in their purest state are extremely potent, and should be blended with a carrier oil or other medium prior to use directly on the skin, as the essential oil may cause irritation. Patch test is recommended.cuypress
