Pure Geranium essential oil (pelargonium graveolens) is a very balancing, uplifting and calming essential oil, dissolving nervous tension, fear and sadness. Geranium is reputed to have healing properties to aid in relief of circulatory disorders, bleeding ulcers, hemorroids and herpes due to its Haemostatic and antiviral properties. Wonderful as a skin or hair care ingredient, as Geranium oil acts as a Cicatrisant which helps fade scars and spots, it helps clear acne, exfoliates dull skin, and controls oily skin. This oil is also known to benefit sufferes of eczema, shingles, and itchy dry skin. In addition to these qualities, the main constituent of geranium oil, gerinol, is noted as one of the main ingredients in a bug spray that is sold commercially on the market today. Gerinol is known to be an insect repellent effective in repelling a wide variety of insects, including mosquitoes, house flies, stable flies, horn flies, cockroaches, fire ants, fleas, gnats, dog ticks, lone star ticks, and no-see-ums.

Use Suggestions:

Add 9 drops of Geranium to 1 oz unscented body care or to a massage oil/lotion. Combine Geranium with rosemary oil, jasmine oil (absolute), patchouli oil and lavender oil according to your liking to make your own hair care blend. Add Rose Geranium to unscented shampoo or conditioner (5-10 drops per 1 oz of product), or apply 1 drop Geranium Oil to your hairbrush to rejuvenate and naturally scent hair and scalp. To add Rose Geranium oil to a bath for a relaxing way to alleviate stress and tension (in order to prevent the oils from floating on the surface you may want to blend the essential oil with some half and half, honey, or vinegar before adding to the water). Geranium oil blends well with almost everything.
